Site Information

Mostly comprised of Ammenity Grassland the park includes a small copse, gardens and of course the river.

The river has Yellow Water Lily, Wild Turnip, Hedge Mustard, Water Cress, Honey Cress, Purple Loosetrife and Marsh Woundwort.

The park whilst popular with visitors still has a lot of wildlife. Mallard and Canada Geese frequent the river as do Kingfisher and recently up to 2 pairs of Mute Swans have nested on its stretch.

The park and Myton Fields connect to Kingfisher Pools and and a riverside path which connects to the Grand Union Canal and enables you to follow the rivers course with only a minor diversion right along the Avon to the Saxon Mill or up the River Leam to Jephson Gardens and the Leam Valley.

Kingfisher Pool

This pool is really one large lake with two smaller pools. They were dug in around 1999 and designed to give disabled anglers especially the young somewhere to fish.

The site has several Juncus species, Yellow Flag Iris, Celery Leaved Buttercup, Greater Spearmint, Marsh Marigold and Reed Sweet Grass.

The pools have a resident pair of Mute Swans ZOT and ZTG and has Mallard, Coot and Moorhen.

Summer visitors include Reed Warbler whilst occasional visitors include Grey Heron and Great Crested Grebe.

Moulting Ground

On the banks of the river near Coton End at the Warwickshire County Council Sports ground is a traditional Mute Swan moult site. It has been used as such since the late 1970's.
