Mark Smith is a graduate ecologist with a passion for the Natural World. He currently works as a Science Technician in a local secondary school.

He has lived in Warwick all his life except for 4 years spent away in Aberystwyth studying. A great enthusiast of wildlife in all its forms he is always analysing and investigating the world around him. He researchs anything that catchs his eye, currently he is developing the Mute Swan Database.

  • B.Sc. Dissertation - Investigation into the seasonal change in bird behaviour with special regard to feeding and foraging (1998/99).

  • Consultancy for Warwickshire Wildlife Trust on Princethorpe Woodlands Project. (2004)
  • Voluntary work assisting with Warwickshire Wildlife Trusts Habitat Biodiversity Audit. (2001-2002).
  • Hedgerow Survey work for Warwickshire Wildlife Trust (2001-2002)
  • Co-ordinator and Author of Paths 2000 Survey Report (2000)
  • Part of a team who produced a Health Impact Assessment of Monmouthshire County Councils Local Transport Plan (2000).

  • Regional Representative for the British Trust for Ornithology. (2003 – To present)
  • Chairman of Aberystwyth Biology Society 1998-00 (Secretary 1996-98) - Involving the co-ordination of meetings and the organisation of events.
  • Representative on the Institute of Biology Mid-Wales Branch committee (1998-00).
  • Secretary of Young Enterprise Company (1995).

  • Instruction of pupils on A-level Field Trips (2003 to 2006)
  • Two weeks in Warwickshire County Council’s Department of Transport, Planning and Economic Strategy as an Assistant Footpaths Officer. The work entailed surveying and mapping of footpaths and inputting data in to a computer. (1995).
  • Two weeks at Warwick Castle. Fulfilling various roles from Guiding to Garden maintenance (1994).
